School is (almost) back in session!
But before you get back into the school-day routine, give the kiddos one final summer hurrah!
Here are some great suggestions happening in our state! When the teacher asks, “How did you spend your summer vacation,” your kids can respond with:
“This summer, I….”
1. Went on a picnic…with over 3,000 watermelons!
The Annual Carytown Watermelon Festival returns August 9th, featuring 60 musicians, 100+ exhibitors and, of course, watermelon.
2. Played Pirate…and went on a treasure hunt!
On August 16th, kids will have a chance to practice their orienting skills while completing a scavenger hunt on the Peaks of Otter.
3. Stargazed…in the daylight!
From Toddler Story Time to science demonstrations, NASA offers daytime summer activities that engage with kids of all age.
4. Dressed up…and spent a day at the theater!
The Riverside Children’s Theater presents The Princess and the Magic Pea, running until September 5th.
