Virginia is honored to be home to nearly 130,000 men and women in uniform. Military personnel have dedicated their lives to our country, and we are forever grateful.
If you are approaching the end of your military career, we know you have a lot on your plate before returning to civilian life. Here are 3 tips that may ease the process:
1. Schedule your final exam
The military requires a final medical and dental examination before separation. Schedule both appointments at least 90 days in advance to avoid any complications.
2. Sign Up for Insurance
Dental insurance is available for any military retirees. If you choose to insure your family on the military’s plan, apply early to avoid a gap in coverage. You can apply for this insurance anytime, or are free to seek your own individual or family plan.
3. Maintain Your Oral Health
Oral health is directly linked to your overall health. You deserve a long, healthy life after your service, so it’s important to maintain a thorough routine and schedule a dental appointment every 6 to 12 months.
Thank you for your service and best of luck in your future endeavors!
