At Delta Dental of Virginia, giving back to the community is at the heart of our mission. In 2024, our team, fondly known as Team Green, achieved a record-breaking year of service with foundation-led volunteer events.
Supporting the community through volunteerism and giving
A year of community engagement
Throughout the year, Delta Dental of Virginia’s Foundation organized events designed to uplift various community groups, including children, seniors, veterans and families in need.
Here are some of the highlights:
- January: Rock Painting Project with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest Virginia – Focusing on mental health awareness, our team worked with children to encourage self-expression and positive mental health through art.
- February: Soup for Seniors Drive with the Local Office on Aging – Delta Dental of Virginia collected more than 200 items to support local seniors, helping to provide nourishing meals during the colder months.
- March: Bingo with Veterans at Davis & McDaniel Veterans Care Center – More than 80 seniors joined us for an afternoon of bingo, companionship, and fun, reminding our veterans how valued they are.
- April: Sleep in Heavenly Peace Bed Build – Delta Dental of Virginia volunteers built beds to ensure that local children had a safe, comfortable place to sleep. No child should have to sleep on the floor, and our team worked to help make that a reality.
- May:
- Roc Solid Build – Our foundation partnered with Roc Solid to build a playset for a child fighting cancer, providing joy and a sense of normalcy during challenging times.
- Habitat for Humanity Build – Team Green supported local housing efforts by working on a home for a family in need, contributing to a safe and stable community.
- June:
- Special Olympics Virginia State Games – Delta Dental of Virginia volunteers had the honor of participating in the Special Olympics, supporting athletes and helping create a memorable event for everyone involved.
- Let’s Give Lunch with the Local Office on Aging – We packed over one thousand lunches for seniors, helping to provide nutritious meals and foster a sense of community.
- July:
- Supply Drive for Saleeba’s Store of Hope – Team Green organized a drive to gather essential supplies for Saleeba’s Store of Hope, a pet food pantry for those in the community and their pets who need assistance.
- Feeding Southwest Virginia – Senior Box Kitting – Delta Dental of Virginia volunteers packed boxes of essential items for local seniors, helping fight food insecurity among vulnerable populations.
- September:
- Feeding Southwest Virginia– Quality Assurance and Senior Box Kitting – Team Green set records by packing boxes to support families in need.
- Pet Partners Fundraiser and World’s Largest Pet Walk – Delta Dental of Virginia volunteers raised funds and participated in the World’s Largest Pet Walk, contributing to a great cause for animals and pet therapy.
- October: Roc Solid Build – With the help of Roc Solid, we created a custom playset in our very own parking lot for a young child fighting cancer. Despite being located over two hours away, Roc Solid delivered the playset to their home, offering them a much-needed escape during a tough time.
- November: Lift Center Fallon Park Elementary Food Drive – In the spirit of Thanksgiving, we donated food for the holidays to local families.
- December: Boys & Girls Club Holiday Adoption – Delta Dental of Virginia adopted the 9th Street Boys & Girls Club, to help club kids feel the warmth of community support.
