Ah Spring Break! Those glorious days of beach parties, cliff diving, dancing, freedom from prying eyes, and endless fun! Even the reclusive Emily Dickinson had to say “a little madness in the spring is wholesome even for the King.”
Spring break is almost here and I bet your plans are in full swing! I know spring break is all about being impulsive and chilling out, but there is no need to neglect your health in the bargain. Especially your oral health!
DO NOT let bad breath, stained teeth or a toothache keep you from having a good time. You never know who you will meet!
Here are some things that you can do to ensure that you do not compromise on your oral health this spring break.
Visit your Dentist
It will be good to pay a visit to your dentist before you head out for your break. This will help you know if there are any issues that you need to take care of before you get out on your vacation. You do not want to be stuck in your room with a toothache when everyone is out partying, do you? This becomes all the more important if you already have a gum disease or any other dental problem. If you are feeling adventurous and want to rough it out this spring, all the more reason to make sure you don’t have to hunt down a dentist in unknown lands.
Don’t Forget The Basics
Cocktails and pizzas and finger food and exotic fare – yummm! But, please don’t forget the basics; brush your teeth twice a day and floss regularly. We do not want last night’s spinach stuck in your teeth when you flash your brilliant smile! Keep your floss handy. Avoid the sticky, extra sweet stuff; you never know when tooth decay might sneak in. Rinse out your mouth regularly.
Other than losing a tooth in a fall or a pub brawl, these tips should help take care of your oral health on your break. So then, keep these things in mind and any otherwise words to keep you safe. And most importantly – have a blast!
