Natural Foods Full of Vitamin D

A little vitamin D makes a big difference when it comes to healthy teeth.

It helps your body absorb calcium and phosphate, strengthening and protecting tooth enamel. Sun exposure is the easiest way for us to get vitamin D, but if it’s cloudy or you’re stuck in the office, sunshine is in short supply.

Luckily these natural foods can give you your daily dose of vitamin D:

1. Fish

Fatty fish like salmon contain over 100% of your daily value. If it’s hard for you to find fresh caught fish, canned tuna provides 40% of your daily intake.

D-licious Dish: Step aside, crab. These easy salmon cakes are pure class.

2. Mushrooms

Not only do mushrooms contain natural vitamin D, but you can multiply their levels of vitamin D by placing them in the sunlight before you eat them.

D-licious Dish: Fire up the grill for one last BBQ. Make these portabella mushroom burgers your main entrée.

3. Liver

You may want to reconsider your childhood repulsion. Beef liver contains a sizeable share of our daily vitamin D requirement.

D-licious Dish: If you’re not already a liver lover, you will be after this liver and onions dish.

4. Egg Yolks

When you can’t have the sun, eat the sunny side! Eggs are loaded with vitamins and minerals, including vitamin D. One egg yolk contains 10% of your daily dose of vitamin D.

D-licious Dish: Treat yourself to something a little sweet with this healthier homemade eggnog. Just make sure to brush and floss 30 minutes after enjoying
